Impacted teeth

Impacted teeth

The reasons are varied, ranging from the bad positioning of the tooth, which can be impacted on neighboring teeth, through the natural lack of space and even a wrong genetic information that indicates an abnormal position of the tooth.

With very few exceptions, in our opinion, impacted teeth should be removed, due to the associated problems they can cause, including caries and food impact on a neighboring tooth, resorption of the roots of neighboring teeth, which can even lead to their loss, including formation of important cysts that can cause considerable bone defects.

Despite being a minor surgery, it is always a surgical procedure, and should be faced with importance when it comes to care. Our experience shows, in the vast majority of cases, a comfortable period after the surgeries, due to the pre and post-operative care we take. There are medication and care protocols that are carried out, in the sense of making this experience something comfortable and with a very short memory.

As a rule, these teeth should be removed in adolescence, as most of the time it focuses on dental positioning correction treatments (Orthodontics), however there is no indicated age. Of course, the earlier the better, to make the experience more comfortable.

There are no absolute contraindications to the procedure, except for the usual situations such as pregnant patients or patients with severe chronic disease that could make the procedure less safe in the clinic. In almost all other situations, the professional will be able to adapt the situation of each patient to the procedure to be performed.
